Dr. Gokulnath Thandavarayan is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART), IIT Delhi. He received his Ph.D. (Cum Laude) in Wireless Communications and Connected Automated Vehicles (CAVs) from Miguel Hernández University, Spain. His research focuses on Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications, Connected and Automated Vehicles, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and next-generation Wireless Communications (5G/6G) for smart and autonomous mobility.
He has collaborated with leading European automotive industry partners, including Bosch, Hyundai, and Toyota, and has contributed to international research efforts advancing connected mobility. His work has influenced ETSI standards for CAVs, and he actively participates in 3GPP discussions shaping the future of intelligent transportation.
Dr. Gokulnath research addresses the challenges of connected mobility from both system and communication perspectives. At the system level, he explores how vehicles and drones can cooperate to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability. At the communication level, he develops methods to ensure reliable and efficient data exchange across diverse wireless technologies such as LTE-V2X, 5G, and Wi-Fi.
This integrated perspective enables students from diverse engineering and technology disciplines to contribute to both applied system development and fundamental communication research. Working with him provides exposure to international collaborations, cutting-edge research, and global industry standards, opening strong pathways to impactful careers in academia and leading companies worldwide.
